Teresa Pecco
has had an interest in working in a community setting since her early twenties. She has been an active member of community and voluntary organisations since the mid eighties working with young and old Afro Caribbean members of the community and helping them to be proactive to build services needed to enrich their community and everyday lives.
Since 2001, she has worked for Sure Start a government led initiative that has been empowering parents to be actively involved in the decision making processes in their local areas as well as fast tracking them to services they otherwise may not have accessed previously.
She also has a particular interest to building links within the community to show the importance of the family unit and she is a trained facilitator of the 'Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities' programme. Teresa also believes this will make some headway to improving the quality of life for our youths of today and tomorrow.
